BBC Tournament Details - Elimination Format

All tournaments use an elimination format. Entry fee is $20. Seeds, and therefore any byes, are determined at random. The exact elimination format is dependent on how many players enter the tournament:

1. With 6 or fewer players, true double-elimination format with sole payout to the winner.
2. With 7 or 8 players, a main bracket (no-loss) and consolation bracket with payouts to the main bracket winner and to the consolation bracket winner.
3. With 9-16 players a main bracket (no-loss) and consolation bracket (one-loss) with payouts to the main bracket winner, main bracket runner-up, and consolation bracket winner.
4. With 17+ players, a main bracket (no-loss) and consolation bracket (one-loss) with payouts to the winners and runners-up in each bracket.

100% of the entry fees and 100% of the side pools are paid out each week. There is no "rake" of any kind taken by the director.

Match lengths are 7 points in the no-loss brackets and 5 points in the one-loss bracket. (In format 1 above, matches between the two finalists are 7 points even though either or both players will have one loss).
